Presenter: Alan Paine, Desmet Ballestra – Group Technical Support, currently retired
Presenter bio: Alan Paine has been working as a chemical engineer in the industry since joining Simon Rosedowns in the UK in 1984. Desmet bought the company in 1988. Between 1995 and 2000 he was based in Desmet’s office in Atlanta, GA. Since then, Alan has been living in the UK and working for the Belgian office. He was responsible for Global Technical Support and recently retired. Most of his work has been involved in the engineering of refineries, but understanding other sectors and how they affect refining is important. He has traveled widely and visited farms/plantations, palm oil mills, and extraction plants, in addition to refineries. Currently retired, independent consultant.
